The strategic Brazilian machinery and equipment sector has an industrial park with about 4.000 manufacturers producing 4.300 different kinds of machines for various kinds of segments.

Due to its competitiveness, ruled by the quality or its products and services, the Brazilian machinery and equipment sector exports more than 35% of its production; which in 2005 represented US$ 8,6 billons of foreign sales, the equivalent of a 25,5% rise over 2004. This places Brazil in the top ten of world manufactures, according to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The main Brazilian machinery and equipment buying countries are the United States, the European Union and Argentina.

While Brazil has inserted itself into the global market in a very positive way, it has done so similarly in its internal market. The Brazilian machinery and equipment industry has also considerably increased its participation in the internal market, with 63% of the total national consumption compared to 37% of the imported ones.

The sector has 212,000 extremely qualified workers and is characterized by the constant modernization of its productive and management methods.
